Abstract

Indian classical music is an invaluable heritage of Indian culture, founded not only on entertainment but also on spiritual consciousness, emotional expression, and aesthetic experience. The concept of aesthetics has been an integral part of Indian music since ancient times. The beauty of music emerges from the harmonious integration of melody (swar), rhythm (laya), tempo (taal), raga, rasa, and emotional expression (bhava). From the Vedic period to the modern era, the aesthetics of Indian classical music has undergone continuous transformation and development. This research paper examines the origin of aesthetics in Indian classical music, its historical evolution, and its contemporary relevance and perspective.

Abstract in Hindi Language: भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत भारतीय संस्कृति की एक अमूल्य धरोहर है, जिसका आधार केवल मनोरंजन नहीं, बल्कि आध्यात्मिक चेतना, भावाभिव्यक्ति तथा सौंदर्यानुभूति भी है। भारतीय संगीत में सौंदर्य की अवधारणा प्राचीन काल से ही विद्यमान रही है। संगीत का सौंदर्य स्वर, लय, ताल, राग, रस तथा भाव के समन्वय से उत्पन्न होता है। वैदिक युग से लेकर आधुनिक युग तक भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत के सौंदर्यशास्त्र में निरंतर परिवर्तन एवं विकास होता रहा है। प्रस्तुत शोध-पत्र में भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत में सौंदर्य के उद्भव, उसके विकास तथा वर्तमान परिदृश्य का अध्ययन किया गया है।
