This paper titled Religious and Traditional Practices of Madhubani Art attempts discusses the religious practices which are followed from ancient time and which are still in existence with their tradition blended with art. The main focus of this paper is to look at the traditional aspects attributed to the Mithila art, how women of Mithila region are following the path which were created long back and still in connection with it. Various rituals are attributed to their social life, which are documented in terms of Madhubani art. It is interesting to look at the usages of motifs on Madhubani art, the Madhubani art is an art which gives special importance to the nature and the themes are taken from the Hindu mythologies. Women of Mithila region has painted the interior walls with vibrant colours which are extracted from nature. The aims of this paper are to look at the religious and traditional practices which can be seen in the presence of Madhubani paintings and also to see how the caste system is playing a major role in terms of Madhubani paintings.
